I once heard a story of a mother who brought a crippled boy with a hunched back into her home as a companion for her own son. She warned her son to be very careful not to refer to the other boy's deformity, since this was a sensitive matter to him. AND she encouraged him to play with his new friend as if he were a normal child. But after listening to her son play with him for a while, she heard him ask his companion, "Do you know what that is on your back?" The crippled boy was embarrassed, hesitated a moment, but before he could respond, his friend answered the question for him by saying, "It is the box that holds your wings, and someday God is going to break it open, and you will fly away to be an angel."
Someday God is going to reveal this fact to every Christian: the VERY things they now rebel against are the instruments He has used to perfect their character and to mold them into perfection, so they may later be used as polished stones in HIS heaven yet to come.
Suffering is a wonderful fertilizer for the roots of character. The great objective of this life is character, for it is the only thing we can carry with us into eternity. And gaining as much of the highest character possible is the purpose of our trials.

Thanksgiving 2009

I am full as a tick....ate till I was sick...Met a guy named Rick....or was that Nick?.....He was sure Quick....Was a Redneck Hick....But he was my pick ....OK...enough of this rhyme....there is no time....this should be a crime....I could turn on a dime....anybody got a lime?....but can't you see?.....Can you agree?....I have the key.....don't touch my knee....I made some tea....come sit with me.....I must go pee.....Okay.....I said STOP it.....you must zip your lip.....we have to quit....or I will hit....just go sit...get out of that pit....

I could do this all night....but will stop for now....no more rhymes today.....my brain needs to rest now....

hope your Thanksgiving was as good as mine.....! I am thankful that you all are reading this blog!....You really should get a life!

I just got an email from a friend who mentioned that I failed horribly in my blog-ness to show a picture of this precious LAURA JO!!! And I say....SHAME ON ME!!!! What kind of a grandma am I anyway?....well, a sorry one I should say....so here goes.....enjoy!

Today was my Jewel day....When I got to the home, she was in the activity room playing balloon toss....one of her favorite things to do....She can't see well, to put it mildly, but she can sure hit that balloon....then it was on to chapel....We get situated and she asked if I brought her "treats" which of course I did....so I load her up on her favorite cookies, while the sermon is going on. It keeps her awake for most of it....I remember doing that with my own kids years ago...Then her favorite part next is Bingo....She loves this more than I can tell ya....And we won twice...which is really all this crowd can take...They look at ya like you had better not yell BINGO again, and we didn't, thank goodness! Didn't want these old folks turning on me! We won $4....It's $2 a game in winnings...she really hates it when two bingo and she has to share her winnings.....she is not a happy camper when that happens...She is so much fun...she cracks me up! After Bingo it is off to her room for more cookies and her "treatment"...which is a good foot& hand rubbing..... That was all I had time for, cause it was time for lunch.....She sends me off with a blessing & covers me in prayer before I leave. It was a jewel of a day!
