2014 Thanksgivng

Thanksgiving....I love this holiday....there’s family, there’s turkey, there’s dressing, there’s calories....everything in one nice package...what is not to love?  So I take this time to give thanks to my creator, my savior, my helper, my ALL IN ALL!!
Since I have been doing my 1,000 gifts (Ann Voskamp, where ever you are, you have changed my life) for some 3 years now, I thought it only appropriate to tell you NOW what I am so thankful for...so here we go....

God, I am thankful for....

Such a beautiful sunset on the way home today from jazz....the blues and pinks in the sky...a thing of beauty!

Rubbing Emily’s back on the plane on the way home.

Joshua’s soft baby skin

Holding my mama’s crooked arthritic hand....the hand that loves me and cared for me for some 60 years...thank you mama!

Holding Daddy’s hand...those thick calloused hands, that worked hard all his life, but gentle in my hand.

Getting a text or facetime with Claire who loves to talk to her Majo.

Hearing a message from Stacy with Milly in the background saying...Majo, are you there?

Getting a text in the early morning from Glenda asking me....U UP?

Norah's smile from ear to ear.

Baby Powder...love the smell.  How come it smells different on me than you?

Joe snoring next to me....reminding me that I have a husband who is ALIVE and well, who loves me and takes good care of me.

Talking to Annie on the phone and her asking me, "Can we come to your house Majo?"

Getting a call from Philip, my son of few words, saying WHATSUP?

Laura stretching out her arms and showing me how much she loves me.

Early morning jazz and my FAVORITE instructor!..you KNOW who you are!

My bible study girls....both Wednesdays and Tuesdays....SWEET!

Turning a knob and my fireplace glows...I turn around in the early morning with outstretched arms to see the shadow of the CROSS on the ceiling....

Having DEAR friends who mean the world to me...If I haven’t told you, shame on me...but I love you more than you probably know!

My 3 children...I remember when you came into this world....and life for me has never been the same!

Golf....I so love this sport that I discovered in my later years...thank you Lord...

Rocking babies to sleep...it never gets old, it only gets sweeter....the heavy breathing, the sweaty neck, all good in my books!

The grands running into the house looking for me...

Hugs

Ok, I think I could go on and on and on....my list is endless, when God is involved....so thank you Lord, for MY LIFE!  May I never take it for granted, that I use it to your glory, that I continue to learn and grow on this journey!

TX TRIP NOV. 5-8 2014

Here is my airplane partner, Emily.  Of course she got the window seat...I drew the short straw...the middle seat!

This was like traveling with a bunch of gypsies...luggage, car seats, piled high...o my!

Of course we get to TX and it was cold, rainy, and one would think we would have a miserable time....The best day ever!  Our first stop was in downtown Dallas where they have a city block of a longhorn cattle drive in metal...It was hard to take a picture of it all, it was so massive, and so incredibly cool!

NEXT stop was the Ft Worth stockyard where twice a day they drive the longhorns down the middle of the street....Only in TX, right?

Laura got to sit on an 1,800 pound longhorn

YeeeeeeHaaaaa!

In Whitney we had to do crafts with Memom!...a little slice of heaven!

Lunch with a TX shaped cornbread and a little butter on top.....YUM!

Picking pecans in the church parking lot....yep, there are a lot of nuts at church, in case you were wondering!

Emily was a very serious picker of pecans....she loved it!

The 2 first borns....Paula & Sarah

Cousins getting acquainted....instant love connection!

Laura & Emily LOVED hanging out with Evie....

Evie is showing off her flexibility....I was going to do the same, but decided a trip to the hospital wasn't necessary!...maybe another day...or maybe not!

Of course I have to take food pictures.  Didn't want to disappoint anyone!

We took LOTS of family pictures.  Sarah has most of them on her camera...this was my contribution....Memom & Pepaw with the Westover's

Fall is finally here!

Emily, Joshua, & Laura Jo came over yesterday afternoon.  It was a beautiful day to play on our sport court and just hang out and look cute....well, at least 3 kiddos did....Majo loves her grands!

Wednesday Bible Study Girls

We have been meeting at my house for some 15 years or so, not sure of the exact number.  Usually have around 8-10 regulars.  For the last 3 three years Lottie and I have been serving lunch afterwards.  We call it the Double L Cafe.....here is just a sample....
Lottie and Carol showing off some delicious tuna wraps and Sally serving up tomato basil soup...YUM!

Scars

Scars....
If we live long enough, we will have one or two or many!  I just acquired a nice one this week....decided to see if I was the sharpest knife in the drawer....Apparently I am NOT, but I found out what was....

Those ceramic knives are pretty sharp!  It took 6 stitches, a needle full of numbing stuff, and gauze & tape.  I found out the kitchen is a dangerous place to be....I am surprised Joe still lets me go in there.  If my cookin’ doesn’t kill ya, those knives just might!
      So be careful out there...

Women Of Faith

Here I am with Stacy, Sarah, & Amanda....My Women Of Faith!!  We were able to spend Friday night and Sat. praising our Lord and being lifted up with inspirational messages.  Major estrogen going on and I loved it!  And I love the fact that these three love the Lord with all their heart, soul, and mind.  I am a blessed woman indeed!

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!

On August 29th, 2014, while playing my favorite course, Dubsdread, on hole number 3, I pulled out my 4 hybrid club and hit 135 yards and sunk that baby smack dad in the middle of the hole....and for you non-golfers that would be a HOLE IN ONE!
Joe was playing with me along with two other guys they put us with.  I turned to the 3 guys waiting for the applause, and no one saw it....the other guys weren't even looking, and Joe thought it ran off the back.  So of course that made me question myself, did it really go in?
We get up to the green, I pull out my two clubs and start my search for my ball....AND as you can see, I don't play with just any old ball....it has to be FLORESCENT ORANGE...I order them online and this time they gave you a free saying of your choice....don't know if you can read this, but it reads LAURA SHERWOOD BEST GOLFER EVER.....Who knew that it was true?...ha!
Anyway, since I could not find it anywhere, I checked the hole....and Lordy Bee...There It Be....in the hole, like it was saying...."Girl, get me out of here, and start your Hole In One dance!"...which of course I DID just that...(good thing I learned most of my awesome moves from jazzercise)...high five-ing these strangers I had just met....and carrying on so much, I forgot to take ONE PICTURE!...and this is from a gal who takes pictures of her meals on vacation....WHAT?  No picture?  The one above is just a reenactment....they do it all the time on TV, so why not my blog?
I was so excited I could barely play after that.  I did pull it together enough to finish the round with an 84....we got rained out for the last hole....major lightening show, so I went back the next day and finished it, since I was told it didn't really count, if I didn't finish the round....and I gotta make it count..I mean, this is my first HOLE IN ONE for heaven's sake!  Gotta play it right!
So there ya have it....and I am sticking' to my story!  I think every golfer dreams of getting one of these....it is pretty cool.  Now of course, I found out that it doesn't mean you are necessarily that great of a golfer, since I golfed yesterday and shot 101....so what is that about?  My game was in the toilet all day long.  But hey, it was fine by me....I was outside, the birds were singin', I didn't have to do laundry or vacuum, or cook dinner, or fold underwear or weed or NUTHIN'!  God is so good to me!
