Our Texas Trip this summer

 Joe & I went to Texas and played in a golf tournament.....I also got to attend a wedding shower for Megan, Brenda's daughter.....lots of fun....If that wasn't enough we went to the Texas Speedway where we found Jalin doing some modeling in her cute little racy outfit....Glad I changed, cause I almost wore that SAME outfit!...go figure!

Mother’s Day 2013

What can I tell you about my mama?  I don’t quite know where to begin.

I grew up in Texas, so I have a head start on most of ya.  But you add being raised by Miss Virginia, why, that’s just gravy.    

She was quite a looker in her day....I remember when she would come to my elementary school for something or another (no, it wasn’t always cause I was in trouble) but the whole class thought she was just beautiful....and she still is!....Not much has changed there.....Maybe a few wrinkles and the Clairol 118 hair color has turned gray.  But inside that skin....the skin that isn’t as tight as it used to be, is the heartbeat of my youth!

She was a stay at home Mom who loved Glenda and I with ever fiber in her being.  She whipped us in shape...literally...Glenda, not so much...but me, probably daily....from a switch out back....that tree didn’t look so great after a while!....ha!

She would sew our clothes, hung ‘em to dry on the clothes line, and made the best chicken fried steak around!  We never had a whole lot, but never went without.  Mother was the heartbeat, the constant throb of our lives.

We rarely missed a time when the church doors were open....went to Sunday school where we learned from felt cutouts all about David & Goliath. VBS and church camp every summer were a treat.  We may not be able to quote a lot of scripture, but we could just watch our Mother live out Jesus every day...that says a lot right there.  

So Mother....here’s to the best one around! (I am holding up my cute milk bottle) You inspire me, you love me, and you crack me up with your quick wit....yes, I get it from you!  You are to blame for sure!

Sure do love my Mama today on Mother’s Day and every day!
