Out of Africa!

Joe and I are back in the good ol’ USA! Africa was so amazing, wonderful, wild, crazy, & we loved every minute of it. Except for the 89 hour trip home. Man, that is a fur piece away for sure!

Our tent living conditions were awesome! Five Star all the way! Nothing but the best for us! We had to make sure to zip it up tight to keep the monkeys out of our room. And you don’t want monkeys jumping on your bed. I was doing enough of that myself!

The game excursions were nothing short of exciting, adventurous, and way too much fun. We saw it all! Elephants, zebras, lions, rhinos. hippos, crocs, hyenas, water buffalos, and stuff I had no idea what we were seeing! A memorable sight was a huge croc with a baby hippo in it’s jaws....gross!

Going to see how the village people lived was enlightening....I thought they would know “YMCA”, but none of them did! Apparently these were different Village People! I danced with them....in fact, I am not sure, but I think I may have married one of ‘em! He was sure cute in his red dress. I think we would make a lovely couple, but living in a stick house covered in cow dung was a bit much for me. The women have to build the huts, and once I had to make a home repair or two, the honeymoon would be quickly over!

The hot air balloon ride was so cool! I have never done that. There are no words to describe the awesomeness of it all. And then we landed out in the middle of the plains and a champagne breakfast was prepared that was out of this world...the wild animals were just right there grazing. CRAZY!

But I will tell you Dorothy, there is no place like home and my pillow and my bed! God is so good!

Laura Jo napping

One of Laura Jo's favorite things when she comes to Majo's house is to "pretend" to take naps....She loves getting the bed ready, making sure the pillow is just right, covering up with a blanket....and you see that she is so tired in this picture...Nighty Night Laura Jo!

My Prayer for 2012

O God.....Take me, Break me, make me into your image. Mold me into someone who surrenders, honors, and humbles. Put me in the kiln. Don't take me out until I am good and ready. And then Lord....Never leave me! O Lord...NEVER leave me. Alone I am a mess...but with YOU by my side, I stand tall and can weather any storm that comes my way.
As long as I have breath, your name will be praised above all names. You are my KING. I am never taller than when I am on my knees before you!
May the year 2012 be the year that I always put you first, that I hear your voice in the stillness of the mornings, that I totally surrender my heart, mind and soul to your service. Show me the path that you want me to walk.
I love you Lord and I pray this in the sweet name of Jesus. Amen, Amen, & Amen!

My Corner Job

I worked the corner with my Jazz signs for an hour. The good part was it was foggy and most couldn't actually SEE me....That was a plus for any car going by! The funny thing is, this was the SAME CORNER that Philip worked his first job, for the cleaners, that at that time had just opened....He had to work much longer hours in a tuxedo....So I am following in his footsteps. It was an only one shot deal, so my working days stopped before they really started. But it was way fun yelling at the cars as they zoomed by!
